What Does CBD Flower Smell Like?
CBD flower is a great alternative to THC flower for people who don’t prefer THC but still enjoy the experience of smoking flower or enjoy the effects of CBD products. It has the same taste, terpenes, and experience as THC flower, minus the THC. And, just like THC flower, the CBD version comes in a variety of strains and can be purchased as-is or in prerolls.
And, because CBD flower is nearly identical to THC flower, aside from the cannabinoid content, it does smell like weed when you smoke it. But why?

How is CBD Flower Grown?
A lot of the THC flower plants we know today, or marijuana plants, are known for their concentration of THC and selective breeding to create new strains and new potency. CBD flower can also be grown this way, but it’s not some super-modified plant or chemically-altered product. CBD flower is grown just like marijuana with some exceptions, but it primarily comes from the hemp plant rather than the marijuana plant.
Hemp is a common buzzword in the CBD industry, but that’s because hemp is the basis for all CBD products. From its industrial uses throughout history to its holistic health applications today, hemp has always had CBD cannabinoids within it. And, just like marijuana plants, hemp produces smokeable flowers that can be harvested and dried.
Hemp and marijuana are closely related, and they even look similar when viewed from afar. Both plants are also selectively bred to change the terpene and cannabinoid content of the flower, resulting in new strains. The only major differences between them are the way they look and their cannabinoid content. So, two different plants that are very similar produce THC flower and CBD flower, which explains why they both smell so similar.
If the Plants Are So Similar, Will CBD Flower Get Me High?
Short answer: no. CBD flower will not get you high like THC flower does. It lacks high quantities of the psychoactive cannabinoid Delta-9 THC, which is what produces the marijuana “high” that we know. But, CBD has a variety of other cannabinoids in it that have different effects for different purposes.
For example, Delta-8 THC is a popular cannabinoid for its possible relaxing and euphoric effects that are less intense than those of Delta-9. Delta-8 is great for people who may not prefer the effects of Delta-9, but still want some of its beneficial qualities. There’s Delta-10, which is said to be energizing and uplifting without paranoia. THC-o has been said to stimulate appetite and reduce anxiety. CBN may aid with sleep and relaxation. There’s a variety of cannabinoids that can be used and combined in different ways, and your local CBD Pros can tell you more about them and help you choose what’s right for you.
